We are proud to support Foster Care Fortnight, which runs from Monday, 13 May to Sunday, 26 May.

Foster Care Fortnight is The Fostering Network’s annual campaign, which celebrates the inspirational commitment, passion and dedication of foster carers, which aims to increase awareness about the need for foster carers.

This year’s theme is ‘Fostering Moments’ which focuses on celebrating the moments that defined fostering journeys – both big and small. Throughout the campaign, everyone involved in the fostering community is encouraged to share their moments that have mattered most to them.

To thank and acknowledge Medway’s foster carers and Supported Lodging Providers for the vital work they do for our community, the Medway Fostering Service will be hosting its annual Fostering and Supported Lodgings Celebration Afternoon Tea on Friday, 17 May.

Our Foster for Medway team will also be holding a number of public events to help raise awareness of the importance of fostering.

On Tuesday, 14 May and Wednesday, 15 May the team will be at The Pentagon Shopping Centre from 9am to 4pm. On Tuesday, 21 May and Wednesday, 22 May they will be at Dockside Shopping Outlet from 9am to 4pm.

Transforming lives

Cllr Adam Price, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, said: “Firstly, I would personally like to thank all of Medway’s foster carers and Supported Lodgings Providers for everything they do. They open their hearts and their homes to provide some of Medway’s most vulnerable children and young people with the support, compassion and care they need, in what can be a confusing and turbulent time. Foster carers, and the whole fostering community, play a key part in our community, transforming lives by providing a safe space for children to grow, develop and reach their potential.

“We are always looking for more foster carers – so if you are interested in finding out more about fostering, come along to one of our events or get in touch directly with our team.”

You can follow the Medway Council Fostering Facebook page where stories from our staff and Medway’s foster carers will be shared throughout Foster Care Fortnight.
