Our Child-Friendly Medway team are launching a brand-new initiative to recognise and celebrate the achievements of children and young people in Medway.
The Medway Young Citizens Award is a new scheme aimed at children who live or attend school in Medway aged between seven and 11-years-old (school years 3-6).
Parents, carers, school staff and community members are being encouraged to nominate someone who has done something amazing, overcome challenges or made a difference to their school or local community.
Nominations open on Friday, 1 November and close on Friday, 6 December, and each winner of a Medway Young Citizen Award will receive a personalised certificate.
A Medway Young Citizen can be nominated for anything you think deserves to be recognised, whether it is for being a good friend, being polite and kind, helping others, clearing litter, showing compassion or anything else you think needs to be celebrated.
Important to recognise our children and young people
Cllr Adam Price, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, said: “I think this is a brilliant initiative to celebrate our amazing children and young people in Medway. It is really important to recognise our children and young people for their achievements, so if you know someone who you think needs to be celebrated make sure you nominate them for the Medway Young Citizens Award!”
