Children and young people across Medway will have their say at Child-Friendly Medway’s latest City Hall event.

Our eighth City Hall event will be taking place at Ninja Warrior at Chatham Dockside on Thursday, 21 November. Doors will open at 4pm, before children and young people have the chance to put their questions directly to Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, and Richard Hicks, Chief Executive at 4.30pm.

Following the question and answer session, children will be able to have some fun and tackle the Ninja Warrior course from 5.15pm to 7pm. Refreshments will also be provided at the end of the evening from 7pm to 7.30pm.

Child-Friendly Medway’s City Hall events give Medway’s children and young people the opportunity to have their voices heard by the council leadership. At previous Child-Friendly Medway City Hall events, children and young people have talked about a wide variety of topics that matter most to them, including keeping medway cleaner and greener, schools, transport and places to play.

They have also shared their favourite things about Medway including parks, nature, history, local clubs and youth groups, and family events – including the Child-Friendly Medway City Hall events and Super Saturday. Their feedback is reflected in Child-Friendly Medway’s Seeing is Believing programming, which provides free opportunities for children and young people to have fun all year round with a wide range of events and activities for children, young people and the whole family.

Great to hear directly from Medway’s young people

Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, said: “I always look forward to our City Hall events – it’s great to hear directly from Medway’s young people and get their views on what we can do to make Medway an even better place for people to grow up in. It is sure to be another popular event – so make sure you reserve your spot early!”

Heart of what we do

Richard Hicks, Chief Executive, said: “Child-Friendly Medway is all about ensuring the voice of our children and young people is at the heart of what we do, and our City Halls provide a great opportunity for Medway’s children to give us their feedback and ideas. We are both looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible and answering your questions!”

The event is free to attend and is always incredibly popular, so tickets must be booked in advance. Bookings for the event open tomorrow (Friday, 1 November) and close on Thursday, 7 November. To book your spot, email: ChildFriendly@Medway.gov.uk.
