Residents are invited to join the council’s leaders at a free event where they can find out the latest council news and directly ask their questions.

The latest instalment of Medway Matters Live will be heading to The Hundred of Hoo Academy on Wednesday, 2 April from 6pm to 8.45pm.

Those who attend will hear from both Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, and Richard Hicks, Chief Executive, before a live Q&A session is held.

The award-winning former BBC South-East journalist and fellow Medway resident, Rob Smith, will be hosting the event once again.

He will open proceedings before Vince and Richard run through some of the council’s key priorities, projects and latest news, including local government reorganisation and devolution and what that means for Medway’s future.

Rob will then moderate a live Q&A session where residents can put forward their questions directly to Vince and Richard.

A number of council services will also be attending the event, giving residents the opportunity to find out more about them and the help and support on offer.

"We will be covering a lot of ground at this event"

Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, said: “Our Medway Matters Live events have proven to be a great way to connect with our residents, and I know that both Richard and I are really looking forward to our latest event in Hoo.

“As always, we will be covering a lot of ground at this event. There has been a lot happening in the world of local government recently – and I am really keen to speak to our residents about everything that is going on, including devolution and local government reorganisation. If you want to know the latest developments, or have any questions, I would encourage you to come along to our next Medway Matters Live event and find out more.”

Your opportunity to ask questions

Richard Hicks, Chief Executive of Medway Council, said: “We had originally planned to bring Medway Matters Live to Hoo last June, however, we had to postpone it due to the general election which was a real shame. I know we are both really pleased that we have been able to re-schedule and bring this great event to Hoo in April.

“We will be updating residents on our priorities, but more importantly will get the opportunity to hear directly from them. At our previous events we have had some really insightful questions raising important topics and I am sure that will be the case once again. We have received some really positive feedback from residents on our Medway Matters Live events, so I hope as many of you as possible are able to join us at The Hundred of Hoo Academy in April.”

Medway Matters Live is free to attend, but booking is essential.
