A book celebrating the lives and work of six women with a connection to Gillingham has been accepted into the National Poetry Library.
The book, Inspired by Six Women Who Shook the World, was published as part of the Circle of Six Women project, with residents creating stories, essays, poems and prose inspired by the six women.
The Circle of Six Women project celebrates suffragist and peace campaigner, Dame Kathleen Courtney, African princess and friend to Queen Victoria, Sarah Forbes Bonetta, pioneering psychiatrist, Dr Lorna Wing, poet and novelist, Rosemary Tonks, inventor and engineer, Verena Holmes and artist Eileen ‘Tirzah’ Garwood.
The National Poetry Library is a free public collection located in Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre in London.
You can find out more about each of the women in a series of talks on YouTube, or on our website.
