A host of experts and innovators will bring their knowledge and expertise to Medway at two specialist business events in May and June.
With more than 14,000 businesses and a growing local economy now worth £6.7 billion, Medway prides itself on being one of the most promising growth areas in the south-east – making it the ideal location for the Climate Business event in May and the Business and Skills Showcase the following month.
Jo Fairly, co-founder of organic chocolatier Green & Black’s, will be among the keynote speakers coming to The Corn Exchange in Rochester on Wednesday, 7 May for the green business event, ‘Climate Business: Sustainable strategies for a profitable future’; before the Historic Dockyard Chatham welcomes the return of the Medway Business and Skills Showcase on Wednesday, 18 June, offering a wealth of expertise and networking opportunities.
The Climate Business event will focus on sustainability, now the cornerstone of any modern business, and attendees can find out how sustainable investment can address climate challenges, customer expectations, and unlock growth opportunities. Find out more and book your spot at the event.
The Business and Skills Showcase will then take place at The Historic Dockyard Chatham on 18 June, and follows the success of the first ever Business and Skills Showcase last year at MidKent College.
Booking has now launched for the free networking day, which will celebrate businesses in Medway, with an agenda full of resources and information useful for any business, covering a range of topics from public health to green technology.
Among the main speakers will be Growth Studio, who run the Amazon Small Business Accelerator – sharing the processes of the biggest businesses with small businesses to help them achieve high growth; while BAE representatives will be in attendance to share their own expert insight.
In addition, business advisors Kreston Reeves will present a talk on how to reduce business expenses by 20%, and there will be a range of panel sessions throughout the day, including a panel of experts to discuss the potential impact of AI.
The day will also offer the opportunity to:
- promote and exhibit your business
- learn about new opportunities and skills that can boost your business
- network with and be inspired by other businesses and their journeys to success.
This event is open to all professionals across Medway, while business based in the wider Kent are also welcome should spaces be available.
Cllr Harinder Mahil, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic and Social Regeneration and Inward Investment, said: “These two events offer invaluable information for established businesses and up and coming entrepreneurs, and they are both excellent examples of the support we are offering. The first ever Medway Business and Skills Showcase was a great success last year, and I am sure this year’s event is going to build on that launchpad to become something even more special.
“There is so much potential in Medway and through coming together, businesses are giving each other a better opportunity to succeed individually and to reach that potential as a whole. Success inspires success, and I am looking forward to seeing the best of Medway business at both of these great events.”
