Medway’s young people are invited to hear directly from the council’s leadership and put their questions to them at our next Child-Friendly Medway City Hall event.
Taking place on Thursday, 22 May at the Historic Dockyard Chatham from 4pm to 7.30pm, Medway’s children and young people will have the chance to share their ideas with both Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, and Richard Hicks, Chief Executive.
Following the Q&A session with the council’s leaders, children and their families will be able to explore the internationally acclaimed Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO® Bricks exhibition currently on display at the dockyard.
This is the ninth Child-Friendly Medway City Hall event. At previous events, children and young people have spoken about a wide variety of topics which matter most to them, from places to play and keeping Medway clean and green, to transport and schools.
Feedback from these events is reflected in Child-Friendly Medway’s Seeing is Believing programme, which provides free events and activities for Medway’s young people and their families throughout the year.
Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, said: “Our City Hall events are always a favourite of mine - it is great to be able to hear directly from Medway’s young people and find out how they think we can make Medway an ever better place to grow up. These are always really popular events, so book your ticket today!”
Richard Hicks, Chief Executive, said: “Ensuring the voices of children and young people are heard in Medway is so important, which is why we both always really look forward to these events. It’s fantastic that we are hosting our latest City Hall at the much loved Historic Dockyard, Chatham, giving our young people a chance to learn about Medway’s history, as well as seeing the brilliant Brickwrecks exhibition currently on display there.”
Child-Friendly Medway City Hall events are free to attend but tickets must be booked in advance. Tickets are available now, to book your spot, email: ChildFriendly@Medway.gov.uk.
