Do you have a passion for improving the support that individuals with a learning disability or autism receive?

Members of the community

The positive behaviour support (PBS) Community of Practice meet quarterly. It is a supportive community to share and learn from others who work with, care for, or support people with a learning disability or autism.

Anyone can join. You do not need to know about positive behaviour support.

How to be less sedentary

People who lead an active lifestyle are less likely to experience conditions including:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • low self-esteem.

For people with a learning disability or autism, these emotions can act as a 'slow trigger' for challenging behaviour.

Join Mark Greenstreet from our public health team to find out how helping someone become less sedentary can help reduce their risk of challenging behaviour and improve their health.

Supporting selective eaters

Session details

Find out how you can help your child or client:

  • become a healthier weight
  • enjoy a better quality of life as a proactive approach to supporting positive behaviour.

Individuals with a better quality of life are less likely to display behaviours that challenge, while those with a lower quality of life are more likely to experience:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • low self esteem.

We'll explore how the environment around someone can have a detrimental impact on their decisions, ability to live a healthier lifestyle and how to identify and act on those barriers.
