The Big Splash
The Big Splash is a celebration of all things water and the opening of The Strand Lido and Park for the year.
The event celebrates the whole park and includes sports tasters and park activities, as well as water safety advice.
This year's event took place on Saturday 23 May 2026.
The Medway Mile
The Medway Mile is one of the biggest community sporting events in Medway.
The free event brings together thousands of people every summer to:
- complete the mass mile
- get active together
- try something new.
As well as the mass mile, there is also:
- a competitive adult race
- children’s races
- a mascot race
- free sports activities and taster sessions
- inflatables and other entertainment.
This year's event took place on Friday 17 July 2026 at Medway Park and surrounding areas in Gillingham.
