A better Medway

The A Better Medway (ABM) Schools Award programme helps schools promote the health and wellbeing of their pupils and staff.

All schools in Medway are eligible to take part in the award programme.

Healthy schools programmes are associated with:

  • improvement in health-promoting environments in schools
  • increases in health knowledge, choices, and activities
  • improved general behaviour and achievement in pupils.

The Healthy Workplace programme helps businesses of all sizes become healthier places to work.

Award levels

Kent and Medway schools award - Bronze

To get your Bronze Award you'll need to show you have the steps in place to be a healthy school.

Kent and Medway schools award - Silver

You'll need to complete 15 pledges to get your Silver Award.

Kent and Medway schools award - Gold

You'll need to complete an additional 15 pledges to get your Gold Award.

Kent and Medway schools award - Platinum

You'll need to complete an additional 20 pledges to get your Platinum Award.

Schools can achieve an 11% improvement in academic achievement through high quality PSHE
