What goes in your subscription garden waste bin
Your subscription brown bin is for garden waste only. All garden waste must be loose in the bin.
You'll still be able to recycle your food waste within non-subscription brown bin if you live in a kerbside property. Find out more about what can go in your non-subscription garden waste bin.
In your subscription brown bin you can put:
- grass and hedge clippings
- garden prunings and weeds (not ragwort or Japanese Knotweed)
- small branches (no more than 5cm across)
- dead plants.
- leaves
- flowers.
What cannot go in your subscription brown bin
You cannot put into your subscription brown bin:
- food waste (this can go in your non-subscription brown bin)
- general household waste (black sacks)
- plastic bags or packaging
- soil and stones
- manufactured wood
- dog waste or pet litter.
Do not overfill your bin or leave additional garden waste next to your bin as this will not be collected.
Garden waste bins containing waste that is not accepted will be deemed contaminated and will be stickered and left by the crew.
If this happens, you'll need to collect your bin, remove the contaminants and re-present the waste for collection on the next scheduled collection day.
There will be no return visit for cancelled collections due to contamination or items not placed out at the agreed time and place by the resident.
If you have excess garden waste but wish not to subscribe, this can be taken to any of our household waste and recycling sites or you can use home composting.
