Subscribe to the garden waste subscription service
You can subscribe to the garden waste subscription service using our online form. You'll need to:
- tell us your details, including name and address
- tell us if you currently have a second brown bin at the property
- pay the £40 subscription fee using a debit or credit card.
Applying for a subscription for a block of flats
If you're applying for a subscription for a block of flats, the bin will need to be registered to one occupier as a payment cannot be split and sent individually to those that will be using the bin.
We'll need the address of one of the properties to log on our system when payment is made. The same address will be on the permit to be attached to the bin.
The bin must be placed in the same location where your refuse and recycling is presented. You'll need to tell us where this is when you apply.
Apply for a subscription
Subscriptions are open until 1 October 2025.

After you have applied
You'll receive an email telling you the date your subscription starts and when your first collection date will be.
Once you subscribe, you'll receive within 10 working days:
- your garden waste permit and welcome pack through the post
- a second brown bin (if you requested one).
When your permit arrives, it will display your address and individual permit reference number to identify your bin. Stick it on your second brown bin following the instructions included.
If your property already has an additional brown bin you'll need to use it as your subscription bin, as this is better for the environment than issuing new bins. If you have no brown bin, you can request one when you subscribe.
View your subscription
You can view your subscription anytime by using our online portal.
To do so, you'll need to tell us your:
- subscription reference number
- last name
- postcode.
Sharing your bin
If you would like to share your brown bin with neighbours, you can do so, but the subscription and permit will only be registered to the property of the resident who paid for it.
They will be solely responsible if the bin is contaminated, misused or of notifying us if the bin needs to be replaced.
We'll not accept any responsibilities arising from any disputes or issues that may occur.
Collections
Your weekly collections will start on the date specified in your confirmation email.
This will be the same day as your usual bin collection day, except during Christmas and New Year when the service is suspended.
If you do not have a valid permit, the additional brown bin will not be collected and could be removed.
You'll still be able to take all additional garden waste free of charge to any of our household waste and recycling sites or use home composting.
Assisted collections
If you currently have an assisted collection for your free brown bin then you'll also be able to register for a garden waste subscription assisted collection. Your subscribed bin will be collected from the same place.
If you do not have an assisted collection phone 01634 333 333 or request an assisted collection online.
