After the closing date for applications, we will begin to process your application using the following steps.
Speaking with other local authorities such as Kent County Council
We send them applications for their schools made by Medway parents and they send us applications for Medway schools made by Kent parents
Medway schools prioritise children
Children that have applied to them are prioritised based on the oversubscription criteria
Offering places
We begin allocating places at each school up to their published admission number. We will aim to you the highest preference possible.
Telling other local authorities which of their children have offers
We speak to other local authorities to tell them which of their children can be offered places at Medway schools. They will then tell us which Medway children can be offered places at Kent schools.
Continue offering places with other local authorities
We continue offering places and discussing placements in and outside of Medway schools with local authorities until each child has been offered the highest preference possible.
At this point, some children may not have been offered a place at one of their preferred schools, so we offer a place at the nearest school with a vacancy.
Offers are sent to Medway residents on national offer day on 16 April 2020.
If you are not offered one of your preferences
We may not be able to offer your child a place at one of the schools named on your application. This will be because there were more applications than places and other applicants had a higher priority based on the school's oversubscription criteria.
You’ll be offered a place at the nearest school to your home with a space if you’re not offered a place at any of the schools named on your application.
This is only an offer of a place and you can still look at other schools using the waiting lists and appeals.
