Neighbourhood plans under development in Medway
Arches (Chatham) Neighbourhood Plan
Arches (Chatham) applied to Medway Council to start preparing a neighbourhood plan by applying for designation of a neighbourhood forum and neighbourhood area.
Following a 6-week public consultation during July and August 2019, both items were approved at the Cabinet meeting on 6 August 2019.
Arches (Chatham) Neighbourhood Planning Forum has prepared a draft plan and is carrying out a Regulation 14 consultation from 26 February 2021 to 7 May 2021. The consultation is taking place online through a series of themed workshops and hangouts.

Hoo St Werburgh and Chattenden Neighbourhood Plan
Hoo St Werburgh Parish Council have proposed a neighbourhood area for its parish, for the purpose of preparing a neighbourhood plan.
We consulted on this proposal. The consultation closed at 5pm on Friday 23 November 2018. No reasons for objecting to the designation were raised.
We formalised the designation of the neighbourhood area at the December 2018 Cabinet meeting.
Hoo St Werburgh Neighbourhood Plan group continue to consult on its plan proposals, and anticipate holding their Regulation 14 consultation in 2021. Medway Council is supporting the group with mapping and development data to support their evidence base and are liaising with the group to provide comments to their draft plan proposals.

High Halstow Neighbourhood Plan
High Halstow Parish Council applied to start the process of preparing a neighbourhood plan. The first stage was to formally approve the designation of the parish as a neighbourhood area which was approved at our Cabinet meeting on 12 June 2018.
High Halstow Neighbourhood Planning group has prepared their draft neighbourhood plan with a supporting Design Code document. The group has held discussions with Medway Council on emerging policies and anticipates holding its Regulation 14 consultation in early 2021.

Cliffe and Cliffe Woods Neighbourhood Plan
Cliffe and Cliffe Woods Parish Council applied to Medway Council to start the process of preparing a neighbourhood plan. The first stage was to formally approve the designation of the parish as a neighbourhood area which was approved at our Cabinet meeting on 16 June 2015. Since the designation of the area Medway Council has been working with the parish council to progress the plan.
Cliffe and Cliffe Woods Parish Council have now completed their Regulation 14 consultation which ran from 1 December 2020 to 26 January 2021. The group are preparing their Regulation 16 consultation on their neighbourhood plan and we continue to support the group through this process.
