Independent living support officer responsibilities
A scheme support officer will:
- help residents live independently, comfortably and securely
- complete an assessment to assess the residents’ support needs
- liaise with agencies such as social or health services
- help with budgeting and managing finances
- help residents understand the rights and obligations of their tenancy
- encourage and enable residents to get involved in social events and promote involvement.
A scheme support officer cannot:
- clean the inside of a residents accommodation
- take over the support and care that family or friends can provide
- provide nursing care
- give or handle medication
- collect, handle or manage the residents’ money
- shop or cook for the resident.
