Book an appointment to register
We are now making registrations by phone. The GP, hospital or hospice will email the cause of death certificate to the register office and we will phone the named next of kin.
When to register a death
If someone dies within the Medway Council area you need to register the death with us at the Medway Register Office.
A death should be registered within 5 days.
The doctor will email the medical cause of death certificate to the register office, so you will not need to collect it before registering.
To book an appointment to register a death in Medway, phone 01634 338 998.
Registrations are by appointment and can be made for between 9.30am and 3.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Tell Us Once service
After someone dies you will need to notify many organisations and departments. At your appointment the registrar will give you details of the Tell Us Once service. This service can help you report the death to a range of local and central government organisations in one go.
