On 17 December 2024, Councillors Naushabah Khan, Tristan Osborne and Lauren Edwards submitted their resignations. There are now 3 vacancies for councillors:

Two electors, registered as local government electors in Medway, have already submitted valid requests for elections to fill the vacancies in both wards. Therefore by-elections in both wards will take place on 6 February 2025 to fill the vacancies.

Voting

Poll cards

Poll cards will start to be sent to eligible electors from 6 January. You do not need to take your poll card with you to the polling station although you must take a form of Voter ID.

Postal packs

Postal vote packs will be sent to electors:

  • who are already registered to vote by post around 17 January 2025
  • who apply to vote by post between 3 January and the deadline of 22 January, around 29 January 2025.

If you think there may not be time for you to receive and complete your postal pack and to return it before the close of poll at 10pm on 6 February, you may wish to appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf instead.

You'll need to cancel your postal vote no later than 5pm on 22 January and make a separate application to appoint a proxy no later than 5pm on 29 January. 

Additional information

All electors (except those registered overseas) included in the 2025 Register of Electors that was published on 1 December 2024 will be eligible to vote in the elections, including EU citizens. Existing electors do not need to re-register for these elections.
