High Street Heritage Action Zone consultation

Community involvement throughout all stages of the programme is an important focus for the project team and Historic England. We want to be as inclusive and diverse as possible to make sure all residents, businesses and visitors have their voices heard.

As part of the HSHAZ programme a design framework is being prepared to help shape the future of the area. This is being prepared based on feedback received from the public through consultation workshops and a survey completed in winter 2020 to 2021.

We asked your views on the future of this area to create the framework, asking questions on 5 main themes:

  • local history and identity
  • high street
  • waterfront
  • movement and transport
  • open spaces and sustainability.

Consultation survey

We invited residents and businesses to tell us what they would like to see.

The survey closed on Friday 21 October 2022.

Public event

The project team were also at the Festival of Chatham Reach on Saturday 17 September 2022 to listen to your views and hand out paper copies of the survey.

After the survey closes

The information gathered will be used to inform proposals. A public engagement event will happen in November 2022, and you'll have another chance to provide feedback.
