Licence types

There are 2 types of chaperone licence:

  • voluntary
  • professional.

With a professional licence you can do paid and voluntary work. With a voluntary licence you can only do voluntary chaperone work.

Licence fees

A professional licence costs £60 including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. 

A voluntary licence is free, including DBS checks.

Before you start the form

You need to apply for a licence at least 3 months before you need it to allow time for the checks. 

You will need to provide the following:

  • name of production company or school
  • a passport style photo
  • health conditions that could impact your ability to be a chaperone
  • details of 2 referees, one should be your current or most recent employer
  • if you’re applying for a professional licence, your payment details.

You should only use this form if you pay Council Tax to Medway Council.
