Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions apply:

  • submissions are accepted for both books from 1 September to 30 November 2022
  • the books will be published and launched in March 2023
  • entry is free and open to anyone aged 7 years and over
  • you can send in a total of 3 submissions in any style of your choosing (for example, 3 essays, or 2 essays and 1 poem or 1 poem, 1 story and 1 essay)
  • once submitted, submissions cannot be amended
  • submissions will not be returned, so please keep a copy
  • if your work is chosen to be included in one of the books, you'll receive a free copy
  • work may be edited for clarity or length
  • the copyright of submissions remains with the author. However, authors of the winning submissions, by submitting their work, grant Medway Libraries the right in perpetuity to publish and/or broadcast their work
  • submissions will be judged anonymously by a judging panel
  • the project organisers reserve the right to change the judging panel without notice and not to include the work if, in the judges’ opinion, such an action is justified
  • the judges will read all the submissions and their decision is final. The judges or Medway Libraries will not enter into any correspondence
  • people whose work will be included in the books will be notified by the end of February 2023 and invited to a launch event in March 2023
  • all entrants who provide a valid email address will be notified about the outcome of their entry by the end of February 2023.
