Are you passionate about preserving the stories of our community? Do you have a personal journey of migration and finding a home in Luton?
Destination Luton is an Arts Council-funded project by Medway Libraries which is working to document the diverse experiences, memories, and reflections of people from all walks of life who have made their home in Luton. Together, we'll create a rich and meaningful archive that captures the spirit of our community for generations to come.
Who we're looking for
We're inviting individuals of all backgrounds and experiences who live or work in Luton and who would like to share their migration stories.
Whether you arrived recently or decades ago, your journey matters.
What to expect
- Oral history interview: you’ll participate in a friendly oral history interview with a trained interviewer to talk about your migration story and life experiences living in Luton
- Your voice, your legacy: your story will become part of a lasting archive to inspire and educate future generations, and stories will be used in a book for young people co-written by Medway authors
- No preparation needed: just bring yourself and your memories.
How you can help
If you or someone you know would like to participate, get in touch by emailing Dr Christopher de Coulon Berthoud at christopher.berthoud@medway.gov.uk.
By sharing your story, you’ll help us create a tapestry of experiences that reflect the heart and history of Luton. Together, we can honour these journeys that make our community unique.
We cannot wait to hear from you.
