Opening times

From 15 May the site will reopen.You'll only be able to visit the site if you've booked in advance.

When you book you'll be able to choose from these slots:

  • 10am to 2pm
  • 3pm to 7pm

What you can recycle and dispose of
  • appliances (small and large)
  • asbestos (how to dispose of asbestos)
  • batteries
  • cardboard
  • car batteries
  • clothes and fabrics
  • cooking oil
  • electrical items
  • engine oil (used)
  • food and drink tins
  • fluorescent tubes
  • fridges and freezers
  • garden waste
  • gas bottles
  • glass bottles and jars
  • hardcore (for example broken building materials)
  • household batteries
  • household furniture
  • light bulbs
  • paper
  • printer cartridges
  • scrap metal
  • shoes
  • televisions
  • wood and timber
Vehicle access

You can use a small, privately-owned vehicle to take household waste to our recycling centre. Vans are not permitted.

You can book to take a small, privately-owned van to Capstone recycling centre.


Vehicles not permitted

Vehicles will be turned away from the centre if they:

  •  are business or commercial vehicles, such as transit vans or open-back vans 
  • do not fit under the height barrier (2 metres) 
  • are sign written (apart from taxis) 
  • are vans with a gross laden weight of more than 2 tonnes (this is usually listed in the owner's manual and shown on a plate or sticker on the vehicle)

All vans towing trailers will be turned away.

Cars with trailers will be turned away if they are:

  • longer than 6 feet 8 inches
  • more than 35 cubic feet
  • wider than the towing car
