Apply for the PFG grant
Applicants may apply for up to £2,000 under this scheme. To be considered for the full amount, proposals must clearly show how the funding will support growth through increased staffing.
If you have previously received a PFG grant before May 2025, you can apply for an additional £1,000. Apply for additional PFG funding.
What may qualify for up to £2,000
Example activities that may qualify for up to £2,000 include:
- creating a new staff role
- investing in new tools or systems that directly support revenue growth
- developing new products or services that will generate additional income that will require increased capacity
- expanding into new markets or delivery channels that require increased capacity
- staff training that enables business growth and support job creation.
What may qualify for up to £1,000
Projects that contribute to business development but do not show a direct link to job creation may still be eligible for up to £1,000.
Example activities that may qualify for up to £1,000 include:
- equipment purchases that improve efficiency, but do not expand capacity
- training or development that supports business growth but not job creation
- implementation of new software that can modernise and automate operations to manage a larger workflow
- new product and service innovation that will broaden the options provided by the business.
What the grant will not support
The grant will not support:
- marketing campaigns without a cost breakdown and clear objectives to increase sales or customer base, including social media ads
- routine operating costs including stock purchase, rent or business rates
- vehicle purchases
- applications that do not meet all eligibility criteria.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scheme, the business must:
- be in Medway
- be an SME
- be at least a part time business working a minimum of 22 hours per week
- provide an annual income turnover
- not owe any debts to us
- adhere to De Minimis State Aid (financial aid from the government)
- have a business bank account.
Apply
To apply for the scheme, you'll need to use our online form.
You'll need to provide:
- your personal details, including name, address and contact information
- your business’ details, including name and address
- the business’ age and number of employees
- the business’ principal activities and the products and services provided
- information on your customer audience
- your plans for the grant and how this will help your business
- information on any legal and health and safety information, such as outstanding or ongoing disputes with us, licences, and insurance
- proof of a business bank account, such as bank statements or letter from a bank
- a profit and loss forecast for 2 years. You can download our profit and loss forecast template if you do not currently have one.
You should register for a Medway Council online account and sign in before filling in this form. This means you can save your progress, leave your application at any stage, and continue from where you left off when you return.
If you do not have an online account and leave this form for more than 30 minutes, your information will be cleared for security reasons. You will need to start the form again.
The scheme will remain open until all funds have been allocated.

We understand the benefits of using AI, however if you use this tool in your application, you should consider the value it will add. AI generated content can lack the personal touch and authenticity we value. We encourage you to show your unique knowledge and skills using your own voice.
What happens after

We'll process your application within 60 days after submission and contact you with the outcome.
