Pitch up and Play - Drop in, have fun and try lots of different sports in a park near you.

parksport is back for 2017, bringing fun, informal sports to parks and open spaces across Medway.

No booking, no commitment, no pressure and no equipment needed. Just pitch up to play and let our parksport coaches look after the rest. Bubble football image ParkSport

The parksport programme includes weekly multi-sport sessions throughout the summer as well as weekend parksport Festival days.

Sports on offer will vary week to week but include archery tag, NFL American football, pop-up tennis, parkour, softball, soccer and Frisbee.

 

parksport Youth Impact ProgrammeParkour action

We have launched an eight-week parksport youth impact programme in partnership with The Medway Community Safety Partnership.

From 14 August until 6 October, simply pitch up and play from 5pm at the following locations:

  • Monday: Recreation Ground (just off Shelduck Close) – Allhallows
  • Tuesday: Multi-use games area adjacent to Lordswood Library
  • Wednesday: Jackson Fields – Rochester
  • Thursday: Luton Rec, Capstone Rd, Chatham
  • Friday: Swallow Rise, Princes Park, Chatham

All sessions are free of charge, activator-led and all sports equipment is supplied. For more information contact: mark.roughsedge@medway.gov.uk

 

Weekly parksport sessions

Free weekly sessions will be running at the following sites this summer:

  • Hillyfields Community Park, Gillingham: Mondays 5.30 to 6.30pm (8 May to 28 August)
  • Queen Elizabeth Fields, Gillingham: Mondays 7.15 to 8.15pm (8 May to 28 August)
  • Northcote Recreation Ground, Strood: Tuesdays 5.30 to 6.30pm (9 May to 29 August)
  • Broomhill Park, Strood: Tuesdays 7.15 to 8.15pm (9 May to 29 August)
  • Strood Sports Centre: Wednesdays 7 to 8.30pm (3 May to 6 September)
  • Great Lines Heritage Park, Gillingham: Thursday 6-7pm (parksport and parkour) (4 May to 7 September)
  • Rochester Castle Gardens: Fridays 10 to 11.30am (28 July to 1 September)
  • Palmerstone Road/Maidstone Road Recreation Ground, Chatham: Saturdays 1 to 2pm (6 May to 2 September) (ParkLives session)

The parksport programme is supported and subsidised by Sport England's Community Sport Activation Fund.

The programme works in partnership with StreetGames and doorstep clubs are run within Medway to encourage young people to get involved in sport. It also features sessions liked to Medway's Youth Centres and FE colleges.
