Medway Development Company is overseeing the Garrison Point development, situated at the top of Whiffens Avenue. In total, 115 one and 2-bedroom apartments have been built.
The development has not only provided much needed new and affordable homes for residents, but it will also help provide more opportunities to help grow the local economy in Medway’s city centre. The site is close to Chatham High Street, bus and train stations, all the while providing views of the surrounding historic parks and woodland.
Garrison Point offers first time buyers the chance to buy an apartment with a 30% discount. Buyers, using a deposit and mortgage, purchase 70% of the property to get on to the housing ladder and when they decide to move on the discount will be re-applied to the new value for the next owner, ensuring that properties remain affordable for other first-time buyers.
Buyers do not have to pay a monthly rent fee on the 30% of the property they do not own, unlike other schemes.
