Before you apply to become a licensed ceremony venue
To apply for a licence, you must be the proprietor or trustee of the premises.
If you want to apply for more than one building, you must make a separate application for each building.
To be approved for a licence in Medway, the building must meet GOV.UK's requirements to be approved as a licensed venue.
The building must also:
- have disabled access
- have a separate room from the ceremony room for any pre-proceedings
- have toilets
- have space for seating in the ceremony room(s)
- have an approved room that can be used if the outside area being applied for cannot be used (for example in bad weather)
- have parking
- be compliant with current health and safety requirements
- be compliant with current fire precautions
- be covered by current public liability insurance
- not allow food or drink to be sold or consumed in the ceremony room an hour before the ceremony
- have appropriate lighting for ceremonies.
