Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Regulation 16 of the Accounts and Audit (Amendment) Regulations 2022 that:

The Statement of Accounts and auditors' reports are open to inspection of any local government elector for the area, who may make a copy of them or an extract from them, per Section 25 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014.

Notice is given that the draft (unaudited) Statement of Accounts for the year ending 31 March 2024 has now been published. View the Draft Statement of Accounts 2023 to 2024

The Draft Statement of Accounts is unaudited and may be subject to change. 

Each year the council’s Statement of Accounts is subject to external audit by Grant Thornton UK LLP. Any person interested has the right to inspect and make copies of the accounts and any relevant documents.

Inspection period for 2023 to 2024 accounts

From 23 December 2024 to 6 February 2025, the auditor at the request of a Local Government election for the council's area, will give the elector or representative an opportunity to question them about the accounts. Notice is given that from 23 December 2024 to 6 February 2025 any elector can make objections to the auditor, under Section 27 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 relating to any matter where the auditor could take action under:

  • Section 28 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, namely to apply to the court for declaration that an item in the accounts is contrary to law, and/or
  • Section 24 and paragraph 1 of Schedule 7 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, namely to make a report in the public interest.

No objection may be made unless the auditor has previously received written notice of the proposed objection, specifying the facts the objector relies and the grounds the objection is being made. A copy of that written notice must be sent to the council at the address below.

Any interested person may inspect and copy the accounts and related documents of this body by appointment between the hours of 10am and 4pm on weekdays between 23 December 2024 and 6 February 2025.
