Our annual community sporting events encourage you to get more active and lead healthy lifestyles. The 2 events are free to enter and include a range of family fun activities to include everyone on the day.
The Medway Mile is one of the biggest community sporting events in Medway.
The free mass participation event brings together thousands of people every summer to:
- complete the mass mile
- get active together
- try something new.
As well as the family mile, there is also:
- a competitive adult race
- children’s races
- a mascot race
- free sports activities and taster sessions
- inflatables and other entertainment.
The event is run in partnership with A Better Medway and is supported by Child-friendly Medway.
The Medway Mile 2023
We'll be taking the Medway Mile to different locations across Medway during the next few years. This will bring the fun of this mass-participation event to as many local communities as possible.
The 2023 event will take place on Friday 21 July 2023, Medway Park and Great Lines in Gillingham.
Bookings for this event will open late May 2023.

The Big Splash is a celebration of all things water.
This year, it will take place at the Strand Lido in Gillingham on Saturday 17 June 2023.
