If you're living in poor conditions
Poor living conditions include:
- serious damp problems
- homes that need major repairs
- staying somewhere that will put your families health at serious risk.
If you're experiencing poor living conditions, you need to:
- speak to your landlord or letting agent about the problems and ask them to repair it
- keep a record of all communication between you, your landlord and letting agent
- take photos and, where possible, gather reports from professionals about the issues with the property
- ask your GP or other medical professionals to write about how these conditions affect or harm you or your family.
If you do not get help from your landlord or letting agent
You can:
- report the landlord for not doing essential repairs
- contact the homelessness team if your situation is urgent and you cannot stay in the property. They can help you apply for homelessness support due to poor living conditions.
