You are homeless if you're staying temporarily with family members, friends or you're sofa surfing. This is because you have nowhere permanent to live.

To resolve your situation, you can contact the homelessness team. You should let them know:

  • about you're situation
  • if you do not feel safe where you're staying right now
  • that you want to make a homelessness application to find a secure place to live.

You can also start looking for somewhere else to live. Find housing options available in Medway.

Paying for accommodation

You may need to claim benefits to pay for accommodation. If you do not have a permanent address you can still claim Universal Credit.

Contact our financial welfare hub for help with benefit claims.
