What to submit

You can get advice on applications for tree works on the Planning Portal.

You can also discuss your proposals with us before submitting your application. There is a charge for using our pre-application advice service.

For tree works, you’ll need a:

  • completed application form
  • plan showing the location of the trees
  • statement of reasons for the proposed works
  • full and clear specification of the works to be carried out.

Works need to be clear and full and include both cut back measurements and finished measurement, an example of this would be:

  • T1 – Oak tree – reduce height of tree by 1m, from a total height of 8 metres to 7 metres

Or

  • T1 – Ash tree – crown reduce to finished crown dimensions of 18 metres in height above ground level and a 6 metre crown radius measured from the tree stem, removing up to 1 metre of growth from height of tree and 1 metre of grown from the radial spread.
