Retention payments and market premia allowance

Retention payments will be paid at the end of April, following:

  • 2 years' service with Medway, in Fostering and Adoption
  • 1 years’ service with Medway, in all other children's social worker roles'

. To qualify for the retention payment social workers:

  • need to be in post as at 31 March
  • have not submitted a resignation prior to the payment being made
  • and not be subject to any formal disciplinary or capability process during the year

The retention payment and market premia allowance are subject to annual review. If these are discontinued you'll be given 3 months' notice.

Medpay, social worker roles (Children's Services)

Range: NQSW

Salary: £29,590 pa

Retention payment: £2,000 upon completion of the ASYE programme

Car allowance: Essential user allowance or lease car following completion of probationary period

Range: SW2

Basic salary: Up to £36,109 pa

Market premia: £2,000 per year, paid in 12 equal instalments. Payable to posts in Safeguarding and First Response only.

Retention payment:

  • £2,000 pa. Payable after 2 years service in Medway in Fostering and Adoption.

  • £3,000 pa. Payable to posts in social work roles in all other service areas across Children's Services after 1 year's service.'

Car allowance: Essential user allowance or lease car following completion of probationary period

Range: SW2A

Basic salary: Up to £39,532 pa

Market premia: £2,500, paid in 12 equal instalments. The market premia payment applies to all social work roles except Fostering, Adoption, Youth Offending and SARS.

Retention payment:

  • £3,000 pa. Payable to posts in Safeguarding and First Response only, after 1 year's service.

  • £2,000 pa. Payable after 2 years service in Medway. Applies to social work roles in all other service areas across Children's Services

Basic salary: Up to £44,218 pa

Market premia: £3,000, paid in 12 equal instalments. Payable to posts in Safeguarding and First Response only.

Retention payment:

  • £2,000 pa. Payable after 2 years service in Medway in Fostering and Adoption.

  • £3,000 pa. Payable to posts in social work roles in all other service areas across Children's Services after 1 year's service.

Market premia: £4,000 paid in 12 equal instalments. Payable to posts in Safeguarding and First Response only.

  • £3,000 pa. Payable to posts in social work roles in all other service areas across Children's Services after 1 year's service.

Market premia: £7,000, paid in 12 equal instalments. Payable to posts in Safeguarding and First Response only.

  • £3,000 pa. Payable to posts in social work roles in all other service areas across Children's Services after 1 year's service.

Out of hours payment: £3,000 pa
