Medway context and priorities
Theme 1: Give every child a good start fits in with the following Medway Council priorities:
- reduce rates of teenage pregnancy
- support healthy eating and physical exercise
- improve mental, physical and emotional health outcomes for children in care
- improve quality of education and school standards.
Medway Public Health Outcomes Framework
Working with schools can significantly contribute to reductions in the following areas:
- under 18 conceptions
- excess weight in 4 to 5 and 10 to 11 year olds
- smoking prevalence in 15 year olds
- hospital admissions because of self-harm
- alcohol related admissions to hospital
- chlamydia diagnoses in 15 to 24 year olds.
