Medway context and priorities

Theme 1: Give every child a good start fits in with the following Medway Council priorities:

  • reduce rates of teenage pregnancy
  • support healthy eating and physical exercise
  • improve mental, physical and emotional health outcomes for children in care
  • improve quality of education and school standards.

Medway Public Health Outcomes Framework

Working with schools can significantly contribute to reductions in the following areas:

  • under 18 conceptions
  • excess weight in 4 to 5 and 10 to 11 year olds
  • smoking prevalence in 15 year olds
  • hospital admissions because of self-harm
  • alcohol related admissions to hospital
  • chlamydia diagnoses in 15 to 24 year olds.
