Leaving care

We are dedicated to all our children in care and care leavers and we believe they deserve the very best that we, and our partners, can provide for them.

The leaving care service works with young people from ages 16 to 25. To access this support a young person must have been in care for 13 weeks or more after their 14th birthday up to the age of 18.

We want to help young people make a smooth transition into adulthood and independent living, so we provide a range of support depending on a young person's assessed individual needs.

This support can include:

  • finding the right type of education
  • securing employment or training
  • managing relationships
  • living successfully on their own.

We keep in contact with young people on a regular basis and help them secure the right type of accommodation according to their needs.

We have signed up to the National Care Leavers Charter and have our own local offer for care leavers.
