Local Development Scheme

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, as amended, requires local planning authorities to prepare, maintain and publish a Local Development Scheme (LDS). The scheme provides public information on the process and timetable for the preparation and review of local development documents and is used by the council to help plan resources and work streams.

We have updated our programme for preparing the new Medway Local Plan. We are now working to publish the draft plan in 2024.

The updated Medway scheme was approved by Cabinet on 18 October 2022.

We will report on progress on the Local Development Scheme in our annual Authority Monitoring Report.
