Local Development Scheme

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, as amended, requires local planning authorities to prepare, maintain and publish a Local Development Scheme (LDS). The scheme provides public information on the process and timetable for the preparation and review of local development documents and is used by the council to help plan resources and work streams.

We have recently updated our programme for preparing the new Medway Local Plan. We are now working to publish the draft plan later this year, so that we can take account of the outcome of a major bid for infrastructure funding.

The updated Medway scheme was approved by the council’s cabinet on 6 August 2019

We will report on progress on the Local Development Scheme in our annual Authority Monitoring Report.
