The Strand lido pool will open in May 2026 for weekends. During the school summer holidays in 2026, it will be open everyday.
The season closes at the end of the school summer holidays (Medway school holiday dates)
Pool facilities
The Strand Lido outdoor pool is not artificially heated and is a saltwater pool.
The swimming facilities available include:
- outdoor leisure pool (0.7m to 1.5m depth)
- toddler paddling pool (0.5m to 0.7m depth)
- central swimming zone (25m length x 10m width, and 1m to 1.9m depth)
- 300m lazy river (0.6m to 0.9m depth)
- children’s slides (1m length) in paddling pool (0.7m depth).
Visitors with reduced mobility may have difficulty accessing the pool without assistance, there is no pool hoist, sloped or gradual entry.
Other facilities include:
- pool inflatable shop on site (card payment only)
- poolside cafe (external site also accessible)
- changing areas
- toilets.
Seating and sunbeds are not provided, but you can bring your own.
You can bring your own food and drink.
Please bag up your rubbish and use onsite bins.
You must not bring:
- glass
- alcohol
- BBQs.
Dogs are not allowed in the swim area (except for assistance and guide dogs).
Stay healthy when using our pools
Help keep our pool clean and safe for everyone by following these simple steps:
Shower before you swim
Please take a full shower before entering the pool. This removes sweat, dirt, and bacteria and helps keep the water clean.
Do not swim if you’ve been unwell
If you have had sickness or diarrhoea, do not use the pool for at least 48 hours after symptoms stop. For some illnesses, a longer period may be needed. Please follow medical advice or consult your doctor before returning to swimming.
Practice good hygiene
Avoid swallowing pool water, wash hands after using the toilet or changing facilities and take children for regular toilet breaks.
Keep others safe
Following these guidelines helps prevent the spread of illness and keeps the pool enjoyable for everyone.
