We recognise the importance of sport and physical activity in improving the health of people in Medway and we aim to help people get active on a more regular basis.
This is made possible through the support and diversity of Medway sports clubs. Medway Sport provides support and advice to all Medway based clubs, helping sports clubs to re-engage the community of Medway during a global pandemic.
Medway Council and partner agencies are working together to become a child friendly city, where all children and young people have a say in the local decisions that shape their lives.
We want to help sports clubs to develop into places where young people's voices are recognised, and where they feel safe, protected, valued, and included.
Evolve
Active Kent & Medway run workshops to help sports clubs to become more welcoming, friendly, accessible and inclusive.
They engage with members of the local community to maximise the benefits for both the club and the community, as well as focus on helping sports clubs with finances, management and marketing.
Clubmark is the universally acknowledged cross-sport accreditation scheme for community sports clubs. It represents higher standards of welfare, equity, coaching and management. Since it ceased in 2019, some national governing bodies (NGB) of sport, have continued their own accreditation schemes.
Sport England has a 3 tier Health Check Tool on its Club Matters platform. It supports Medway Sports Clubs that are working towards offering a high quality, welcoming environment for its members.

It is free to set up and could provide helpful, additional financial support for developing your sports club.
With 50 tickets a week you can raise £1,300 every year. Tickets are £1 a week with a top prize of £25,000. Medway Council takes a small percentage from every ticket sold to cover the costs of running the lottery.
After the Christmas and New Year celebrations, many people will want to get fit and try out a new sport.
Medway sports clubs are encouraged to be part of our New Sport, New You social media campaign and taster sessions to showcase their sport and recruit new members.

The Mini Youth Games is our flagship school games series where primary school children compete in a wide range of sporting competitions.
The games have been running for more than 20 years, with around 4,000 primary school children now taking part in the series every year.
Sports clubs can get involved in the series as partner clubs of specific sporting competitions. They can offer taster sessions in their own sport or provide volunteer support to the Medway Sport Team.
Working with local schools, we offer links between schools and clubs to strengthen the pathway for children and young people to enjoy sport and physical activity throughout their lives.
Strong school-2-club links allow young people to try new sports and feel comfortable in a club environment.
