After you apply

If you have applied for your Blue Badge online and provided your email address, we’ll email you to confirm we have received your application. Make sure you check your junk or spam emails.

It may take up to 12 weeks to process your application.

We will not refund the cost of parking tickets whilst you're waiting for your Blue Badge to arrive.

If we need more information

If we need more information about your application, we’ll contact you on the phone number or email address you provided when you applied.

We may ask you to attend an assessment to discuss your disability or condition. This will help us decide if you’re eligible for a badge.

If this is the case, we’ll contact you to book an assessment at our headquarters Gun Wharf or one of our community hubs in Strood or Twydall.

The assessment will be with an occupational therapist who will ask you questions about your disability or condition. Assessments usually take less than an hour.

You will not be given a decision at your assessment.

How we'll tell you our decision

We'll contact you by email or letter to tell you our decision. If you attended an assessment, this will be 5 to 10 days after your appointment.

If your application is not successful

You can ask us to review our decision. Or you can reapply in 6 months if your condition significantly deteriorates.

You can request a review in writing. You must explain why you disagree with our decision and why you should be eligible. Include any new or supporting proof of eligibility.

Email your request for review to blue.badges@medway.gov.uk or post it to the Blue Badge Service, Customer and Business Support Service, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, ME4 4TR.

We aim to complete the review and give you a decision within 28 working days.

If our decision remains unchanged after the review, you can submit a new application in 6 months or if your condition significantly deteriorates.

If your circumstances change

You can reapply for a badge if your circumstances change, and you meet the eligibility criteria.
