Medway Design and Regeneration Awards - 16 June 2017

The first-ever Medway Design and Regeneration Awards were held on Friday, 16 June to celebrate the past 10 years of new development and regeneration in Medway.

Dozens of companies entered their developments into the awards, and an independent panel of judges selected an overall winner for each of the nine categories.

The awards ceremony was held in the prestigious No. 1 Smithery in the Historic Dockyard, Chatham and were part of the Battle of Medway celebrations between 8 and 17 June. 

The shortlisted finalists were joined by TV presenter and architecture critic Tom Dyckhoff, who was guest speaker on the night.

People's Choice Award

Residents had the opportunity to celebrate a decade of design by voting for their winning development in the ‘regeneration impact’ category.

This category showcased developments that have had a positive impact on regeneration in Medway over the past 10 years.

The six shortlisted finalists to choose from were:

  • Carpeaux Close and Eldon Street, Cross Street in Chatham
  • Great Lines Heritage Park
  • Chatham Maritime – Universities at Medway
  • Chatham Maritime – commercial and retail quarter, including the marina
  • Victory Pier in Gillingham
  • The Historic Dockyard Chatham
