Free NHS Health Checks are coming to Medway Sports Centres this autumn. From Monday, 21 September to Friday, 2 October, NHS Health Check clinics will be available on weekdays at Medway Sports Centres (at Medway Park, Cozenton Park, Strood and Hoo Sports Centre), making it even easier for our members to book a convenient appointment. If you're aged 40 to 74, registered with a Medway GP and haven't had a Health Check in the last five years, you could be eligible. The NHS Health Check can help identify your risk of developing serious conditions such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and type 2 diabetes. NHS Health Checks typically take less than 45 minutes. During your check, a healthcare professional will measure your blood pressure, cholesterol, height, weight and waist circumference, assess your risk of diabetes, and discuss lifestyle factors. You’ll then receive personalised advice and support to help you improve your long-term health. As well as the temporary clinics at Medway Sports Centres, appointments are available at local venues across Medway, including participating pharmacies and the Smokefree Advice Centre on Chatham High Street.
